Guardian Angel "Keeps the Sleeping"

The Orthodox church teaches that from the time of being made a catechumen we are given a guardian angel to watch over and protect us, "Yoke upon his/her life a radiant angel..." Our Guardian Angel helps us in this life in ways that we cannot fully understand. This icon is a Russian depiction of our angel preforming the task of watching over us as we sleep. The angel stands to the left and keeps away the demon, pictured on the right.
