St. Barsanuphius the New Martyr Orthodox Icon
The wicked bolsheviks took the holy bishop Barsanuphius to a field to be executed. As he was lined up to be shot, Vladika Barsanuphius raised his hands to heaven in the form of a Cross and began to pray. The bullets immediately hit sisters which were taken with him, yet despite the incessant firing of the bolsheviks, they could not strike the holy bishop. Only when Vladika lowered his hands and had completed his prayer where they able to end his life by rushing on him with bayonets.
