Guardian Angel Orthodox Icon
This
icon also has scenes at the bottom of the Guardian Angel protecting and
leading one to righteous acts. The bottom two scenes illustrate the
Angel protecting during sleep and study, while the top two scenes show
the Angel drawing one to prayer.
The
Orthodox church teaches that from the time of being made a catechumen
we are given a guardian angel to watch over and protect us, "Yoke upon
his/her life a radiant angel..." Our Guardian Angel helps us in this
life in ways that we cannot fully understand. This icon is a depiction
of our angel that keeps and protects us throughout our life.
